The Global Adventure & Mountaineering Conference & Expo 2017 (GAMCE) is going to be organised from March 31 to April 2 in Kathmandu. GAMCE 2017 is aimed at exchange of products, information and services while building consensus on from the international arena on mountaineering and adventure. The meet is inspired by the remarkable growth in world adventure sports and tourism. Nepal’s natural settings is very suitable for adventure sports, which is also a reason the country was chosen as the host. Nepal is located between the fastest growing countries China and India, and also lies between East Asia and South East Asia.
According to NTB, the conference will focus on three parallel tracks: adventure as sports, adventure as tourism and adventure in the context of the environment. Conference participants are expected to include outdoor and adventure sports lovers, athletes, professionals and businesses, adventure travel operators, expedition organisers, environment related INGOs and government agencies, adventure sports and travel media.
The WT0 (World Trade Organisation) statics reveal that adventure tourism has increased by 195% to USD $263 billion from 2010 to 2013. The general tourism, however, only showed an increase of 5% in the same period of time.
