Patan Durbar Square – World Heritage Sites Nepal

patan durbar square Nepal

The Patan Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site like the other two durbar squares in the Kathmandu valley forms a major attraction with its intricately carved wooden and stone structures. These are dedicated to Hindu and Buddhist deities, their proximity giving a clear sense of the fact that these two religions are in unparalleled harmony among the residents. Patan’s major attractions are the Patan Museum, Golden Temple, Krishna Temple and Mahabouddha Temple among others.

Detours to the Bangalamukhi temple, the industrial area and the Central Zoo would all form memorable experiences. It would also be an enthralling experience to visit Patan during the Rato Macchendranath Jatra, which is a chariot festival celebrated among the Newar community.
